Question:
A good friend of mine is in the business of refinishing garage floors. He uses a top grade epoxy ..
the floors look great when finished and wear like iron.
I have suggested to him that he advertise on the "net" and actually
sell the materials in kit form ( many colors available) with complete
instructions and he is an the process of doing so .. preparing
brochures and price lists and a video. Any suggestions as to how he
might advertise or get started. Obviously, a minimal investment is
preferred.
He has done my floor and it is superb .. certainly easier to maintain
than a bare concrete floor and beats vinyl, carpeting or ordinary
paint.
Any recommendations please?
Answer:
If I knew how to start a business like that and advertise efficiently
for it, I think I'd do it myself & not give the secrets away.
But one thing is for certain -- no one is getting rich on the
Internet. I've read that it has not turned out to be the Mecca that
advertisers thought it would be. There's not supposed to be
advertising in websites, so that leaves web sites. There seem to be
a million web sites, so even if you start one (don't know how much
that costs), it would be hard to get people to look at your site.
Even when there's something in it for them, the public just doesn't
have time to look at even most of the sites.
I, for one, would not use someone for such a service unless they live
in my area, in which case I'd hear of them by word of mouth, or in
yellow pages. If he wants to sell kits, well, good luck. There's
tons of stuff for sell on the Net, already. Since I live in a large
city, I will not buy anything from someone I don't know via the Net.
No reason to. I have access to everything I want right here in town
or via a multi-million dollar mail order business with a good
reputation.
