Garage Door Torsion Spring Replacement

Question:
Just had one of the torsion springs break on my garage door tonight...
Figure I might as well replace them both... Do most of ya'll just find a local shop that sells the springs or are they cheaper on the internet? If on the 'net, where's the place with the best value?

How bout the good ol U.S OF A? Support your local door company and stay off the internet. Do you really want a cheap spring?

Answer:
I would go to the manufacturer of the door and get them.
Without knowing the exact weight of your door, it would be easy to get the wrong springs because there are many different size/strength springs.
If you get the wrong one it will either not assist lifting the door enough or it will assist it too much.

I think the manufacturer is no longer in business... Not surprising in that industry from what I understand... I know the weight of the door, wire thicknness of the spring, inside diameter of the spring, and length of the spring, so I have enough information to get a replacement... I was just curious whether buying it off the 'net was a better deal than finding a shop locally that would sell me the parts...
